Application Management & Support
Your business applications are kept running, secure and up to date, with a team that knows the code and the business processes and keeps improving them every month.
Is this for you?
You might need this if…
A business-critical application depends on one developer, or on a supplier that is no longer responsive.
Bug fixes and small changes wait for months because the team is busy with new projects.
Incidents in the same application keep coming back, and users have stopped reporting them.
Support for your applications is split across several suppliers, and nobody owns the whole picture.
What we deliver
What it covers
Maintenance and L2/L3 support
We take over second- and third-line support for custom and packaged applications, including bug fixes, technical updates and security patches. Issues are resolved by people who know the application, not just the ticket.
Continuous enhancements
A planned flow of small improvements and changes, prioritised with the business in a shared backlog. Applications keep up with how people work, without waiting for a large project.
SLA-based application management
We take responsibility for applications against agreed service levels for availability, response and resolution. You get predictable costs, clear accountability and regular reporting.
AI-assisted incident resolution
AI tools analyse logs, code and earlier tickets to suggest likely causes and fixes during incidents. Engineers resolve issues faster, and recurring problems are easier to spot.
Our approach
How we work
01
Assess
We review the application portfolio, code, documentation, incident history and current support model to understand risks and effort.
02
Transfer
Structured knowledge transfer with the current team or supplier, including shadowing, reverse shadowing and updated documentation.
03
Run
Support, maintenance and enhancements against agreed service levels, with a shared backlog and regular releases.
04
Improve
Reduction of technical debt, test automation and problem management, so the application costs less to keep running each year.
Best practices
What we bring to every engagement
Reverse shadowing before go-live
The new team handles real tickets under supervision before taking full responsibility.
One backlog for fixes and changes
Bugs, technical debt and enhancements are prioritised together, so maintenance is not always last in line.
Problem management, not just incidents
Every recurring incident gets a root-cause analysis and a permanent fix where it is worth it.
Keep dependencies current
Frameworks, libraries and runtimes are updated regularly, which avoids risky big-bang upgrades and unpatched vulnerabilities.
Automated tests protect every change
Regression tests grow with each release, so small changes do not break existing functions.
Documentation is part of the job
Architecture, configuration and operating notes are kept current, so knowledge stays with the application, not the person.
Outcomes
What you get
- Clear ownership and service levels for each application
- Documented applications and up-to-date runbooks
- A shared, prioritised backlog of fixes and enhancements
- Fewer repeat incidents through root-cause fixes
- Current, patched frameworks and dependencies
- Regular reporting on incidents, changes and application health
AI-powered
Unleash the power of AI
We offer the possibility of using AI throughout this work: ready-to-use AI tools, or a customised version built for your organisation that can run inside your own infrastructure. In application support, AI reads logs, stack traces and earlier tickets to suggest likely causes, explains unfamiliar code to engineers and helps generate tests and documentation, so incidents are resolved faster and knowledge is captured as the team works.
Starter offer
Application Support Readiness Review
A fixed-scope, four-week review of selected applications that shows their support risks, the knowledge gaps and what a structured handover would take.
Week 1
Inventory
Kick-off and collection of application lists, documentation, support contracts and incident history.
Week 2
Inspect
Technical review of code, dependencies and documentation for the selected applications.
Week 3
Evaluate
Assessment of key-person dependencies, technical debt and support effort per application.
Week 4
Plan
Recommendations and a transition outline presented to IT and business owners.
You receive
- A support-risk rating for each reviewed application
- A list of knowledge, documentation and technical-debt gaps
- Recommended support model and service levels

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to take over support for an application?
A typical handover takes four to ten weeks per group of applications, depending on complexity and documentation. Knowledge transfer with the current team or supplier is the key factor.
What if the original developers are no longer available?
We can still take over, starting with a technical review of the code and environment. It takes longer, but we rebuild the documentation as part of the transition.
Which technologies do you support?
Through our partner network we bring specialists for common platforms such as .NET, Java, web front ends and packaged applications. Altechy coordinates them and remains your single point of contact.
Can enhancements be handled in the same agreement?
Yes. Most clients combine support with a monthly capacity for enhancements, prioritised together in a shared backlog.
