Cloud Strategy & Migration
Move to the cloud for the right reasons — with a business case you can defend, solid foundations and a migration plan that keeps the business running.
Is this for you?
You might need this if…
Data centre contracts or hardware renewals are coming up, and you need to decide whether to reinvest or move.
Teams have started using cloud on their own, and you now have scattered subscriptions without common security, naming or cost rules.
An earlier migration stalled halfway, and you are paying for both on-premises infrastructure and cloud.
Customers or regulators are asking where your data is hosted, and you need a clear answer on GDPR, NIS2 and sovereignty.
What we deliver
What it covers
Readiness assessment and business case
We assess your applications, infrastructure, licences and skills, and calculate the full cost of moving against staying. You get a business case built on your own data, with a recommendation for each workload.
Landing zones and cloud foundations
We design and build the foundation every workload lands on: identity, networking, security, policies and cost management. Built as code, it lets teams move quickly without creating new risks.
Migration to Azure, AWS and Google Cloud
We plan and run migrations in waves, deciding per application whether to rehost, replatform, refactor, replace or retire. Each wave is tested and cut over with a rollback plan, within agreed downtime windows.
Hybrid and multicloud architecture
Where systems stay on-premises or span several clouds, we design how they connect, are secured and are managed as one. The aim is a deliberate architecture rather than accidental sprawl.
Sovereign and EU-hosted cloud options
We help you decide which data and workloads need EU hosting or sovereign controls, and compare options from global and European providers. You get a choice that meets legal and customer requirements without paying for more control than you need.
Our approach
How we work
01
Assess
Discovery of applications, servers and dependencies, combined with interviews with application owners. Every workload gets a fact-based view of cloud fit, cost and risk.
02
Plan
Target platforms, landing-zone design and migration waves, with a business case and cut-over approach agreed with the business.
03
Migrate
Workloads move wave by wave, starting with lower-risk systems. Each wave is tested, cut over and handed over to operations.
04
Optimise
After migration we right-size resources, apply commitment discounts and retire the old infrastructure, so the benefits in the business case are realised.
Best practices
What we bring to every engagement
Business case before technology
Every workload decision is tied to cost, risk or capability — not to moving everything simply because it is possible.
Foundations first
A landing zone with identity, network, policy and cost controls in place before the first workload avoids expensive rework later.
Build on proven frameworks
We use the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, the AWS Well-Architected Framework and Google Cloud’s Architecture Framework rather than inventing our own.
Not every application should move
Retiring a system, replacing it with SaaS or keeping it on-premises is often the right answer, and we say so.
Migrate in waves
Starting with lower-risk workloads builds skills and confidence before business-critical systems move.
Design for exit and data location
Data residency, portability and exit options are designed in from the start, in line with GDPR and NIS2.
Outcomes
What you get
- An application inventory with a migration decision per workload
- A business case comparing cloud and current costs
- A secure, policy-driven landing zone built as code
- A wave-based migration plan with cut-over and rollback procedures
- Migrated workloads, tested and handed over to operations
- A hosting and data-location model that meets your compliance needs
AI-powered
Unleash the power of AI
We offer the possibility of using AI throughout this work: ready-to-use AI tools, or a customised version built for your organisation that can run inside your own infrastructure. In a cloud migration, AI analyses discovery data, dependencies and code to group applications into sensible waves, suggests the right migration approach per workload and drafts infrastructure templates and runbooks — so planning goes faster and engineers can focus on the decisions that carry risk.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long does a cloud migration take?
It depends on the number and complexity of your applications. A small environment can often move within a few months, while larger estates are usually migrated in waves over a year or more. The Cloud Migration Blueprint gives you a realistic plan in about four weeks.
Which cloud provider should we choose?
We start from your applications, skills, existing licences and compliance needs, not from a preferred vendor. Many organisations settle on one primary platform and use others only where they add clear value.
Will the cloud actually be cheaper?
Not automatically. Savings come from right-sizing, retiring unused systems, commitment discounts and making the most of existing licences. The business case shows honestly where the cloud saves money and where it does not.
Who does the migration work?
Altechy is your single point of contact and is accountable for the plan. We bring experienced specialists for each platform from our partner network and work alongside your IT team and existing suppliers.
